SUMMARY:ABC of mental health for young people
DESCRIPTION:ONLINE \nAustrian Mental Health ABC-Campaign (Act-Belong-Commit)\, „ABC der psychosozialen Gesundheit für junge Menschen“ (engl.: „ABC of mental health for young people”) \nThe Austrian Public Health Institute (Gesundheit Österreich GmbH\, Competence Centre for Future Health Promotion) is currently implementing a mental health promotion campaign focusing on young people on behalf of the Austrian Ministry of Health (BMSGPK) based on international models of ACT-BELONG-COMMIT campaigns from Australia and successful adaptations in Europe (e.g. Denmark\, Netherlands). \nThe Austrian ABC-Campaign works as a social franchise concept. 150 interdisciplinary and intersectoral partner organizations are already committed to raising awareness and promoting mental health of young people by working together and passing on the three core messages of the campaign as multipliers. \nDuring the EMHW 2024\, the campaign will focus in particular on the core message COMMIT(ment) and participation as an important element of mental health promotion. During this week\, social media content along the core message COMMIT is spread across the several channels of the campaign. In addition\, a video will be released that describes and introduces the ABC-campaign with its social-franchise concept to expand the network. For the ABC partners and other interested organizations\, an exchange workshop is hosted to create dialogue\, exchange ideas on meaningful interventions and practices\, explore synergies and identify opportunities for cooperation along with the theme of the EMHW 2024. We also reach out to the public by a press release\, informing about the comprehensive campaign and the activities of its currently 150 partner-organizations co-creating the future of mental health for young people. \n  \nABC

SUMMARY:Youth Courage Final Conference: Mental Wellbeing of Young People in the Aftermath of COVID-19
DESCRIPTION:HYBRID \nYouth Courage project has been a KA2 project funded by Erasmus+ and targets marginalised young people who have lost access to key support systems due to the Covid-19 pandemic and seek to reconnect by focusing on the mental well-being of young people in Europe. The project aims to support and reintegrate these young people\, while providing youth work professionals with appropriate tools. The project offers modern\, future-proof ways to (re)connect with marginalised young people who have lost contact with their support system in times of crisis. It empowers adolescents and marginalised young people to become active citizens\, to take responsibility for their own physical and mental health and aims to promote their personal development through solidarity and civic participation. It provides innovative survey tools to capture the current situation of marginalised youth and their caregivers in transnational reports to further strengthen the link with policymakers and research centres across Europe. \nOn 15 May 2024\, the project will host the final conference\, running till lunchtime\, where the policy paper will be presented to the public and with stakeholders. In this final conference\, project partners will share the lessons learned throughout the project\, and representatives of diverse stakeholders will be invited to draw attention to the mental wellbeing of young people from different perspectives\, with the main focus on the effect of the Covid-19 on marginalised young people. SUMMARY:Webinar: The Gender Gap in Mental Health of Young People
DESCRIPTION:ONLINE \nThe share of young people reporting symptoms of depression\, stress or anxiety has more than doubled during the pandemic. Numbers are still alerting high all over Europe. Recent studies also underline a persisting gender gap\, of young women being three times more likely to experience anxiety-related conditions. \nThe webinar “The Gender Gap in Mental Health of Young People“ will shed light on challenges of mental health of young people and highlight approaches\, methods and tools to strengthen the mental health and wellbeing of young people in general and for the most vulnerable ones. The guest speakers\, coming from relevant organisation (GÖG Austria\, University of Kragujevac Serbia\, Eurohealthnet Belgium)\, will use recent data and facts to describe the situation of young people\, focusing on gender-specific differences. Based on this\, practical experiences\, approaches and tools that have been co-created with young people will be shared asking how the mental health of young people\, especially of the most vulnerable ones\, can be promoted. Inputs will thereby take into account the mental health related risks regarding school performance\, labour market integration and social integration. \nFollowing the speakers’ input the attendees will be invited to discuss presented topics and share their own experiences and approaches. \nThe webinar will be organised as part of the MEET project\, that aims to build capacities for youth mental health promotion in formal and nonformal education and training through the development of inclusive and innovative tools and materials. DESCRIPTION:Watch the event again\nThis online event is a panel discussion hosting the following speakers from Romania: Victor Bohuș (Psychologist\, Psychotherapist and member of The Economic and Social Council of Romania) from Choice (NGO focused on promoting evidence-based practices in Psychology and mental health)\, Emilia Grigorean (Psychologist\, Psychotherapist and former EFPSA Advocacy Officer)\, Monica Bartucz (Psychologist\, Psychotherapist and former postdoctoral WHO researcher)\, Cătălin Nedelcea (Vice-President of the Romanian Association of Psychologists)\, Otilia Calfa (InIm Institute)\, and Andrei Hodorog (About ADHD România founder and person with lived experience). Our aim is to call attention to and elaborate on the important role of systemic or social determinants of mental health\, advocating for moving beyond individual responsibility only. We will examine the Mental Health Europe (MHE) model\, discuss access to treatment\, and share insights on the mental health landscape in Romania\, including the need for comprehensive epidemiological studies. The main conclusions from The Economic and Social Council of Romania report on mental health will also be covered. The panel will highlight the principles of Community Psychology and public policy\, showcasing lived experiences and co-creation as a pathway to innovation. We will also spotlight exemplary practices from national and international perspectives\, seeking legislative frameworks that support community-centric policies.
