SUMMARY:Mental Health Literacy for Higher Education Teachers
DESCRIPTION:This session explores mental health literacy and how it can support both students and educators in higher education settings. It will focus on helping teaching staff recognise early signs of distress\, understand key factors affecting mental health\, and respond with empathy and appropriate support. \nRather than turning educators into mental health professionals\, the session aims to provide practical\, first-line skills — including creating safe and inclusive learning environments\, communicating effectively\, and knowing when and how to refer students to specialised services. \nThe session will also highlight the importance of supporting educators’ own mental well-being\, promoting healthier and more supportive academic environments for all. \n  \nhttps://www.ipiaget.org/ \nhttps://www.instagram.com/ipiaget/

SUMMARY:Stronger Together\, Safer on Stage - Mental Health in Dance
DESCRIPTION:Dance is a cultural good that moves people across all borders. We watch the result of years of training\, discipline & sacrifice as magical fairytales on stage — but rarely ask what that cost looks like behind the curtain. Growing numbers of documented cases of emotional\, sexual & physical abuse in elite dance environments suggest a consistent pattern that may be more deep-seated than we realise. Our multi-awarded documentary “Unbound” brings personal stories from within the ballet world: Survivors of industry abuse start their own company\, the Ballet de Barcelona. Chase Johnsey\, the first non-binary person to dance a female role with the English National Ballet\, took on the role of company director. Without experience\, reputation\, or funding\, Chase created an internationally recognized platform for traumatized dancers and their talent. \nThe movie provides a ground-breaking example of how safe dance environments are created where mental health is protected & nourished. Beyond raising collective consciousness\, we want to create the conditions for agency and practical pathways that provide actual help to dancers and strengthen the community from within. \nOur film will be available on Vimeo during the EMHW 2026\, free & accessible regardless of socio-economic background. At the heart of the week\, we host a live online screening followed by a talk with Maria Agius Muscat\, a dance artist\, educator facilitator. She is a registered teacher with the Royal Academy of Dance and the Marketing and Communication Officer for Ballet de Barcelona. \n  \nhttps://www.otoxoproductions.com/ \nSocial Media\nProduction company: otoxo_productions\nUnbound documentary: unbound_ballerinas_documentary\nBallet de Barcelona: balletdebarcelonaoficial

SUMMARY:Stronger Together Breaking stigma. Building communities of care
DESCRIPTION:Stronger Together: Breaking Stigma\, Building Communities of Care An Online Mental Health Awareness Event | European Mental Health Week 2026 \nThere is an Igbo adage ‘Onye aghala nwanne ya’; that means: Be your brother’s keeper. It is a call to collective responsibility\, and it is the spirit behind this event. \nMental health remains one of the most unspoken struggles in African diaspora communities. Stigma\, misconceptions\, and a culture of “hustling alone” mean that too many people are carrying invisible weight in silence. This has to change\, and change begins with these kinds of conversations with each other. \nOrganised as part of European Mental Health Week\, this online event brings together three diaspora organizations and more\, to create a culturally safe\, inclusive space where mental health can be spoken about openly\, honestly\, and without shame. Together\, we will explore how cultural\, social\, and environmental factors shape our mental wellbeing\, and how\, as a community\, we can move from isolation to solidarity. \nThrough facilitated discussions and shared insights\, participants will examine what community care truly looks like in practice: the power of support\, approaches to mental wellness\, and how we collectively dismantle the lonely hustle culture that leaves too many of us walking alone. \nThis is not just an awareness event. It is an invitation to build something\, communities where no one\, regardless of their struggle\, is ever left behind. \nTO JOIN ON ZOOM: Meeting ID 223 973 5671 \n  \nLINKS  \nhttps://www.otuumunwanyi.com/ \nhttps://behindmarygiftwallsfoundation.org/ \nhttps://igbounionantwerpen.com/
