SUMMARY:New approaches in mental health: Experience can become knowledge
DESCRIPTION:Novas abordagens em saúde mental: A experiência pode tornar-se conhecimento \nNew approaches in mental health: Experience can become knowledge \n  \nAn interactive event bringing together university students and professors from ISPA to explore how lived experience can meaningfully inform mental health knowledge\, education\, and practice. \nThe session focuses on bridging academic and experiential perspectives\, highlighting the value of peer support\, Recovery-oriented approaches\, and community-based responses that move beyond purely biomedical models. Through open dialogue\, participants are invited to reflect on how personal narratives of mental health challenges and recovery can be transformed into valid\, transferable knowledge that enriches research\, training\, and service design. \nThe main goals are to: \n\npromote critical thinking about dominant paradigms in mental health;\nfoster mutual learning between students\, academics\, and people with lived experience; and\nencourage more inclusive\, participatory approaches in future professional practice.\n\nAligned with the theme “Stronger Together: Prioritise Mental Health in a Changing Europe\,” this event emphasises the importance of collaboration\, community\, and diverse forms of knowledge in addressing current mental health challenges. It speaks directly to the pillars of Youth\, Access to Services\, and Community\, by empowering future professionals to value co-production\, reduce stigma\, and support more equitable and person-centred systems. \nBy creating a space where experience is recognised as expertise\, the tertúlia contributes to a cultural shift towards more humane\, inclusive\, and resilient mental health ecosystems. \nTime: 17:30 – 19:00 (WEST) \nRegister Now\n  \nSOCIAL MEDIA \nhttps://www.instagram.com/recoverycollegespt/ \nhttps://www.facebook.com/recoverycollegesportugal/ \nhttps://associacaorec.webnode.pt/
