MHE attends 7th European Conference on Mental Health

Earlier this month Robin Murphy from Mental Health Europe travelled to Croatia to join hundreds of mental health professionals, researchers and service users at the 7th European Conference on Mental Health.

MHE was one of the conference partners, alongside MHE member Penumbra and a host of other organisations in the mental health field.

The three-day Conference took place outside the historic Croatian city of Split, with people travelling from across Europe – and as far afield as Iran, the US, Ethiopia and Australia – to attend the multidisciplinary event.

The Conference featured five keynote speeches, a round table discussion, 120 oral presentations, 75 poster presentations and… one speech from Robin at the closing ceremony.

MHE’s contribution focused on Mapping Exclusion, a unique study which analysed the mental health systems in 35+ countries across Europe. The report emphasises the need to create mental health systems based on human rights, and to continue the move from institutional to community-based care. The speech also included a rallying call to conference delegates to lobby perspective MEPs on mental health issues ahead of the European Parliament election in May 2019.

MHE would like to extend a big congratulations to all those who organised the conference.
