Children’s Mental Health Across All Their Environments

May 7 @ 11 h 00 min - 12 h 30 min

The event aims to highlight the importance of children’s mental health by looking at the full ecosystem in which every child grows. Mental well‑being is shaped not only by individual factors but also by the quality of the environments surrounding the child: the family, the school, and the wider social context. The event will bring together stakeholders from different sectors to explore how coordinated action across these environments can better protect and promote children’s mental health.

This workshop aims to create a space for discussion among stakeholders from these different environments, highlighting how families, schools, and communities can support children’s mental health and well‑being throughout their development:

  • Family environment — the emotional climate at home, parental well‑being, maternal mental health, and the support systems available, including training, to families.
  • School environment — the role of teachers, school climate, peer relationships, and the importance of safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning spaces including home – school communication.
  • Social environment — the broader community, non‑formal and informal learning spaces, youth work, and the social networks that influence children’s sense of belonging.

The event may conclude as first step for the development of shared messages or a joint statement on children’s mental health endorsed by the Alliance for Investing in Children and open to other stakeholders that works on mental health and well-being of children.

The event should be held in the European Parliament hosted by MEP András Tivadar KULJA but we are trying to invite other MEPs who can offer meaningful contributions to the topic, each from their own perspective and according to one of the three enviroments
