Twitter Spaces | International Youth Day | 12 August 2021

To mark International Youth Day on 12 August, Mental Health Europe is hosting a Twitter Spaces conversation with the European Youth Forum to discuss their recent report “Beyond lockdown: the pandemic scar”.

Nearly two-thirds of young people may be affected by mental health issues throughout the pandemic according to the report by the European Youth Forum. Factors contributing to mental ill-health were feeling isolated, high levels of uncertainty about work or school, unhappiness with changes in work, education or living circumstances, and general anxiousness relating to the pandemic. The long-term effects of the pandemic on mental health are bound to magnify pre-existing inequalities as those from marginalized backgrounds will be most affected.

To shed a spotlight on the importance of youth mental health during the pandemic and beyond, Mental Health Europe is delighted to invite you to a Twitter Spaces conversation to talk about the report and the way forward to strengthen the mental health of young people in Europe.

Speakers include María Rodríguez Alcázar, Board member of European Youth Forum and Policy & Advocacy Officer at Plataforma de Infancia and Mira Gunkel, Youth 7 delegate for health from the German delegation.

To join the conversation, please follow Mental Health Europe’s Twitter account and join us live at 13:00 CEST on Thursday 12 August via this link on your mobile phone. Please note that Twitter Spaces can only be accessed via your mobile phone. Additionally, there is no function to record so it will be a live online event – so please make sure to mark your calendars and set a reminder if you would like to attend.
